Moscow Zoo
Founded in 1864

Main entrance
It is not by chance that Pallas’ cat was chosen as the symbol of the zoo. It was here that the regular breeding of this red-listed cat was achieved!

Lynx
A family of lynxes has settled down in the enclosures of “CatRow”. Chip and Gaika live there now. The newborn cubs are sent to leading Russian zoos.

Cougar
The renovated space, new places to play and relax have delighted the predators. High-strength glass separates Gabriel from curious visitors.

Amur leopard
The conservation role of the zoo is to preserve and breed rare species of animals. Such is the Mizer, moving to the highest level in its holdings.

Crocodile
The most ancient reptiles need careful treatment. Crocodiles, snakes and iguanas are kept in the Terrarium. Unperturbed gaze and not the slightest movement!

Turtle
The slow metabolism of cold-blooded reptiles allows them to set records for longevity. Up to 150 years for the largest elephant tortoises!

Ruddy shelduck
There are much more birds on the zoo’s ponds in winter than in summer. Ducks come here from all over Moscow, where they are welcomed by unfrozen ice-holes, nesting houses and fresh food.

Mandarin duck
The ducks, who love each other, take care of their offspring together. They are recognized as a symbol of fidelity in China. They are named for their brightly colored attire, like Chinese nobles – mandarins.

Cockatoo
The Bird House is home to a whole kingdom of parrots. Trees and ponds help to recreate their natural habitat. Tensioned ropes allow the birds to exercise their paws and beaks. About 70 species of exotic birds live here.

Gentoo penguin
The pool aviary is home to excellent diving birds. Raised in captivity, they are completely unafraid of humans and accept fish from human hands.

Cape ground squirrel
African squirrels are good diggers. Sand for building dens, hollow logs to hide in, and extra lighting help them better adapt to the zoo’s living conditions.

Meerkat
Little charming predators can defeat poisonous scorpions and snakes! And there is sure to be someone “standing watch”, warning of danger with soft sounds.

Giant panda
All the big pandas in the world belong to China. The bamboo bears are loaned to zoos for temporary keeping. Most recently, Zhui and Dingdin had a daughter, Katusha!

Yellow-throated marten
The animals are active day and night. Kippers try to diversify the life of their charges and hide food in different corners of the enclosure in intricate feeders.

Ring-tailed lemur
The Monkey House is home to about 30 species of primates. The slender owners of long tails perfectly keep their balance on thin branches and while jumping!

Zebra
On New Year’s Day and special holidays, all zoo animals receive delicious gifts! On International Zebra Day, the “tiger horses” received pumpkins with “green” filling.

Walrus
The Pinnipeds pavilion has large pools with salt water and artificial waves. Let’s go into the underwater country and look at sea creatures!

See you later!
At any time of year, the zoo transports visitors to different climatic zones of our vast planet, and you want to come back here again for new impressions!
