Banknotes
Current banknotes of the Russian Federation have been in circulation since 1998. In 2017, banknotes with denominations of 200 and 2000 rubles were introduced. These banknotes feature landmarks from cities across Russia that hold significant cultural, religious, and historical value.
Coins
From 1 kopeck to 10 rubles.
The current coins have been in circulation since the beginning of 1998. On the obverse side of the kopeck coins, Saint George the Victorious is depicted, while on the ruble coins, there is the emblem of the Bank of Russia (since 2016, the coat of arms of Russia). On the reverse side of all coins, you can find the denomination and a vegetative ornament. These coins are minted by the Moscow and St. Petersburg mints. On the ruble coins, under the eagle’s paw, you can see intertwined letters ‘ММД’ or ‘СПМД’, and on the kopeck coins, under the front hoof of the horse, ‘М’ or ‘С-П’ respectively.
